Once your activation email from Quokka Net arrives, your SUPA Networks service is ready to use. This guide shows you how to connect your router to the SUPA Networks connection box, set it up, and what to check if it won’t connect.
Quick start
- Find your SUPA Networks connection box. It’s usually mounted on a wall inside your home.
- Connect an Ethernet cable from the box’s Ethernet port to the WAN port on your router.
- Set your router’s internet connection type to Dynamic IP (also called DHCP or IPoE). There’s no username or password.
- Turn on the router and wait a few minutes for it to connect.
If you bought your router from us, just plug it in: on SUPA Networks it connects by itself.
Your connection box
SUPA Networks installs a connection box where the fibre comes into your home, usually on a wall inside, sometimes in a cupboard or garage. The fibre from the street plugs into it: don’t unplug or bend that cable. Your router plugs into the box’s Ethernet port.
The box needs power to work. If its lights are off, check it’s plugged in and the power point is on. A red light usually points to a problem with the box or the fibre.
Set up your router
SUPA Networks connects with Dynamic IP (DHCP), so most routers connect automatically once they’re plugged in, with no username or password.
- If you bought your router from us, there’s nothing to set up.
- If you’re bringing your own, check it’s on our list of routers that work on SUPA Networks, and set its connection type to Dynamic IP (DHCP). Our router setup guides show where to find that setting.
- On a 2 Gbps plan, your router needs a WAN port of 2.5 Gbps or faster.
Not working?
First, check for a SUPA Networks outage. If there’s one in your area, there’s nothing to fix at home.
- Check the box has power, and none of its lights are red.
- Check your router is plugged into the box with its WAN port, and the cable is firmly in at both ends.
- Check the router is set to Dynamic IP (DHCP). If it asks for a username and password, it’s set to PPPoE: change the connection type.
- Turn off your router and the connection box, wait a minute, then turn the box on first and the router a couple of minutes later.
