You can move to a faster or slower plan whenever you like. Our plans are month-to-month, so there’s no lock-in contract and no fee to change. This page explains how to change, and what happens to your price when a promotion ends.

How to change your plan

Call us on 1800 663 977 or email [email protected] with the plan you’d like. To see the plans and speeds available at your address, enter it in the address checker on our home page, or ask us.

We need to hear from the account holder or an authorised representative. We’ll confirm your new plan, its monthly price and when the change takes effect.

When it takes effect

  • Going faster: you can upgrade any time during your billing period. We usually make the change within 24 hours of your upgrade order.
  • Going slower: a downgrade starts from your next billing period, on your next anniversary date. You keep your current plan and speed until then.

Your next invoice reflects the new plan. Once it’s changed, restart your router so it connects at the new speed.

Before you go faster

  • Check your router can keep up. A standard gigabit WAN port tops out at about 940 Mbps, so 2 Gbps plans need a router with a 2.5 Gbps or faster WAN port. Older routers may not reach the top speeds of faster plans over Wi-Fi.
  • nbn FTTN or FTTC? You may be eligible for a free upgrade to nbn FTTP when you order a 500 Mbps or faster plan. Ask us when you change.

When a promotion ends

Some plans have a promotional price for your first 6 months. After that, the plan moves to its ongoing monthly price, which is shown next to the promotional price when you sign up. Your service, speed and everything else stay the same.

When a promotion ends, it’s a good time to check your plan still suits you. If you don’t need the speed you’re on, a slower plan may cost less. Call us and we’ll go through the options.

Plans without a promotional price have one ongoing price, so there’s no discount period to run out.

Changing to a static IP

You can ask for a static IP on plans of 100 Mbps and faster, except on SUPA Networks, for $5.50 a month. It isn’t always available, because of network limits. See CGNAT, static IPs and port forwarding.
