What You'll Need to Get the Most from Hyperfast?
Router requirements: 2.5 Gbps or 10 Gbps Ethernet WAN port – WiFi 7 (recommended)
Device requirements: Computers, consoles and smart devices must also support 2.5/10 Gbps Ethernet or WiFi 7.
Switching hardware: If you have a wired network, older Gigabit switches may bottleneck speeds. Consider upgrading to multi-gigabit switches.

Managing Expectations
Our nbn® Hyperfast 2Gbps plan unlocks the fastest internet in Australia — but to experience its full potential, you’ll need the right setup.
- A next-gen router with 2.5Gbps or faster ports (WiFi 7 recommended).
- Devices that can keep up — laptops, phones, and consoles also need 2.5/10Gbps Ethernet or WiFi 7.
- Upgraded switches if you use wired networking at home.
Even if you don’t reach the full 2Gbps on day one, you’ll enjoy smoother, faster, and more reliable internet than ever before — and your home will be ready for the future.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Most likely, yes. Standard home routers usually max out at 1Gbps.
To get the most from your Hyperfast plan, you’ll need a router with 2.5Gbps or 10Gbps Ethernet ports and preferably WiFi 7.
WiFi speeds depend on your router and device.
With WiFi 7, you may see speeds close to the full 2Gbps, but performance will vary.
WiFi 6 can still deliver excellent results, but may not reach the maximum speed.
For the most consistent experience, we recommend using a wired 2.5/10Gbps Ethernet connection.
Don’t worry — your devices will still work.
They’ll just connect at their maximum supported speed.
Even if your devices don’t reach 2Gbps individually, the extra capacity means your household can run more devices at once without slowdown.
The Hyperfast 2Gbps plan is available on most nbn® FTTP and HFC connections, but some areas are still completing capacity upgrades.

Yes
While our services use a shared public IP address by default, you can choose to add a static public IP address to your connection. A static IP gives you a fixed, dedicated address on the internet, which can be useful for remote access, hosting services, or certain advanced applications. This optional add-on is available for $5.50 per month — just let us know if you’d like it enabled.
Who needs this?
A static IP is typically needed by customers who want to access their home or business network remotely, run servers or CCTV systems, use VPNs that require a fixed IP, or operate specialised business or security applications. Most everyday internet users won’t need this option.
IPoE (also known as DHCP) is the default connection method for our internet services. It’s simple, reliable, and works automatically with most modern routers — meaning there’s usually no special setup required. For the vast majority of customers, IPoE provides the best plug-and-play experience and delivers excellent performance for everyday internet use.
PPPoE is available on request and is typically used when a static public IP address is added to your service, or when specific networking requirements apply. PPPoE requires a username and password to connect and may involve additional router configuration. If you’re unsure which option is right for you, don’t worry — we’ll guide you through it and make sure your connection is set up correctly.
By default, our internet services use Carrier-Grade NAT (CG-NAT), which means your connection shares a public IP address with other customers. This setup works perfectly for everyday activities like web browsing, streaming, video calls, and online gaming. If you need a dedicated public IP address — for example, to host services, access your network remotely, or use specific business applications — you can add a static public IP to your service for $5.50 per month.
